Love between two men is not just an act of connection—it’s a revolution. It declares that our hearts deserve to beat freely, that our joy is not conditional, and that the world is richer because we choose to love unapologetically.

THEIR LOVE STORY

From the moment I read Dan and Ryan's first email, I knew their engagement session was going to be something special. They painted a picture of their lives in New York City that was so vivid. Shooting in NYC has always been a dream of mine, and these two made it even more unforgettable.

Dan, originally from just south of Jacksonville, and Ryan, from Wisconsin, met in Jacksonville in March 2020. Their story began during a time of global uncertainty, but for them, it was a chapter filled with connection and growth. They spent a lot of time together during those early days of the pandemic—Dan teaching 6th grade at a local middle school and Ryan working as an archaeologist for the Army Corps of Engineers. Their relationship really took off, and in December 2020, when Ryan got the chance to transfer to New York City, they took the leap together. By June 2021, they were officially New Yorkers, trading sunny Florida for the city that never sleeps. Dan transitioned into a role as an events manager, while Ryan continued his archaeology work in the heart of NYC. Ryan proposed in October 2022, pulling off a surprise engagement party with all of their closest friends after keeping it a secret for over six months. Their approach to their wedding planning has been clear from the start: they want it to be a CELEBRATION—a big, joyful party surrounded by the people they love most. That energy carried into their engagement session, which turned out to be one of my all-time favorites.

A DAY IN NYC

We started the day at the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, where the city skyline stood tall behind them, creating a breathtaking backdrop for their love. Dan and Ryan made it so easy to capture their connection. From there, we headed to La Apartment 4F, their favorite breakfast spot, known for its incredible croissants. It was one of those places that feels like a secret treasure, and watching them share a quiet moment over pastries with me was pure magic.

Next, we visited their go-to lunch spot, which quickly became one of my favorites too. The food? Absolutely mouthwatering. But what made it even better was seeing Dan and Ryan in their element, sharing laughs and stories with me over a meal where their personalities shone through—simple, fun, and full of good vibes.

The day unfolded like a true NYC local’s tour. DUMBO, Washington Square Park, and Grand Central Station rounded out the day. In Central Park, they strolled hand-in-hand under the golden autumn leaves, their laughter echoing as they shared stories with me, making it one of the most relaxed and genuine moments of the day. At the New York City courthouse, we captured moments that felt timeless, the grand architecture serving as a stunning backdrop for their modern love story. We stopped by their favorite bar for martinis and smokes, where the atmosphere was intimate and cozy, the perfect contrast to the city’s hustle. Locals kept coming up to them to congratulate and love on them, making the moment even more special before we headed off for dinner

tHE PERFECT COUPLE AKA FRIENDS

This session was more than just a series of photos; it was an experience. It was stepping into Dan and Ryan’s world, seeing the places they love and how they love each other. It reminded me why I do what I do—to capture not just the beauty of people’s lives but the soul of their stories. Dan and Ryan, thank you for letting me be a part of this incredible day. You made my NYC photography dreams come true, and I’ll always treasure this adventure. I can't wait for your wedding and a lifetime of friendship.
