Sarah + Michael SHIPS OF THE SEA WEDDING, SAVANNAH GA

Y’all, let me tell you—I love shooting weddings outside of Jacksonville, FL. Don’t get me wrong, Jacksonville is home, and I adore it, but there’s something about stepping into a new location that gets my creative juices flowing in a whole new way. There’s this thrill that comes with exploring fresh scenery and figuring out how to make it work in my images. It’s like a creative reset button that makes me feel alive. So when I get the chance to shoot in a place like Savannah, GA, at the breathtaking Ships of the Sea venue? You better believe I’m all in.

I know you’ve probably read a ton of wedding articles telling you that you should hire a photographer who’s familiar with the venue. But honestly? I’m going to go ahead and disagree. It’s not about knowing every nook and cranny of a space—it’s about having a photographer who gets excited about new environments, who thrives on change, and who can create stunning imagery no matter where they are. Familiarity is cool, but the real magic happens when a photographer steps into a new place with fresh eyes and creative curiosity. That’s when we can push boundaries and really make some unique art.

Now, let’s talk about Sarah and Michael—these two sweet souls. Like many of my couples, they don’t live in Jacksonville anymore. A lot of my clients are the kind who grew up here or close by, but then life happened—jobs, school, you name it—and they moved away. Still, they often come back home for their weddings, wanting to celebrate in a place that holds meaning, surrounded by their closest family and friends.

But Sarah and Michael’s story hit especially close to home for me. They’re living this incredible, adventurous life together—currently parked in a camper in Palm Springs, CA, while finishing up school. And as someone who’s always had a passion for travel and adventure with my person, I felt an instant connection with them. Their love for exploring the world together, while balancing life’s craziness, resonated with me in such a personal way.

Being able to connect with my couples on a deeper level, like I did with Sarah and Michael, is everything to me. It’s not just about showing up with a camera; it’s about understanding their journey, their love story, and what makes them tick. That connection fuels the way I approach their wedding day and the way I capture their moments. It’s what turns a beautiful wedding into a meaningful experience that shines through the photos.
